Transportation planners from all over the country will gather in Las Vegas next week for the annual Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations (AMPO) conference. Attendees are eager to share stories, listen to presentations from their peers and industry professionals, and to experience the fun of being in Las Vegas.

Over 240 planners, engineers and vendors have so far signed up for the conference. The agenda includes break-out sessions on transportation performance measures, freight data, FHWA’s new web resource PlanWorks: Better Planning, freight planning, military bases and land uses. The Oregon DOT will share details of its newest greenhouse gas emissions reduction plans and procedures.

A session titled Planning for a 21st Century Transportation Network will “take a look at new technology that is expected elicit major changes in transportation infrastructure, as well as the benefits and implications of connected vehicles,” according to the AMPO website.

MS2 has attended this conference for several years since MPOs and COGs are such an important market segment for us. Planners and modelers use MS2’s cloud-based traffic count and turning movement count data management software to assist with mapping collection locations, MAP-21 compliance, analyzing data, creating custom reports and graphs, and improving traffic studies and Synchro traffic signal timing plans. If you plan on attending, please stop by our booth and say hello.
