NaTMEC Conference Recap

Monday, November 19, 2018

This week, MS2 attended the popular National Travel Monitoring Exposition and Conference (NaTMEC) in Irvine, California. We had a booth there and saw many of our DOT and regional clients. We made new friends as we met several DOTs interested in our transportation data management software.

On Monday evening June 11, MS2 hosted a DOT client reception and dinner at a steakhouse in Irvine. Ben Chen, MS2’s founder, said a few words about MS2’s recent successes and our planned new software modules. Dr. Andre Tok, Testbeds Manager and Assistant Project Scientist at the University of California, Irvine, Institute of Transportation Studies (UCI-ITS) spoke after dinner.

Andre’s research team recently completed the California Truck Count Study where they developed and deployed an advanced statewide truck classification system. This was based on inductive loop signature technology to improve truck activity data for freight analysis.

We are grateful to TRB for providing such an excellent venue for us to meet people and learn more about the transportation data management industry.
